COX 2 Ver. 1.57.01 released!


FIRST - for those who update regularly every 3 months, be aware there was an update 2 months ago with significant content and a lot of bug fixes.  If you're downloading the whole game, this is irrelevant to you, but if you're patching, make sure you have that last patch, too.  Missing any patch will cause a lot of problems in the game.

And as always - please let me know if anything seems amiss.  I'm always nervous I've forgotten to include something vital in the patch.

So...  what's new since 2 months ago?  Here you go:

Major Improvements:

30 New Monsters: Compsognathus, Nuisance Mass, Wildcat, Astral Nester, Orcre, Bakemono, Giant Crab Spider, Quickling, Flame Eyed Corpse, Crystal Dragon, Translucent Blob, Fire Snake, Fluid Brute, Jungle Giant, Goblin Spider, Burrowing Spitter, Gazadian Barbarian, Haemorrhex Corpse, Poison Breathing Dragon, Death Cloaker, Giant Owl, Voracious Demon, Tigbanua Buso, Yara-ma-yha-who, Nyxantus, Blood Rider, Nosferatu, Gorgosaurus, Crimson Fluid, Baluchitherium.

2 New Map Tiles: Barrel, Suit of Armour.

Minor Improvements:

- Changed the query text in Hot Coals, Snow and Sludge, eliminating the part that says “unless you are X Resistant”. Having Heat Resistance, Cold Resistance or Acid Resistance, respectively, even to 1%, used to eliminate the damage caused by these squares completely, since they only do 1 damage and the old system dropped fractions. Now it rounds off to the nearest integer, meaning you need at least 51% resistance to the corresponding element to completely eliminate the damage. The new text is clearer and more accurate.

- Glyph of Ruination has been nerfed from having a 5% chance per turn of affecting any individual monster to a 2% chance, as it was simply too powerful.

- Rebalanced the damage outputs of most Exotic Bladed Weapons, as most were underpowered.

- Rebalanced the damage outputs of a few Exotic Pole Arms, as those were underpowered.

- Monsters under the influence of an Augmenter will now display the additional damage type they do next to their usual damage type when queried.

- Altered text in query of Gnomish Explosives to point out that, when they explode, they have a 50% chance for each square within 1 to create Flame.

- Shadow Dragons and Lost Children can no longer blind their opponent if the opponent is already Blind.

- Draugr and Horrible Apes can no longer make you Nauseous if you’re already Nauseous.

- Mad Dancing Satyr cannot increase your Confusion if you’re already Confused.

- Heathen’s/Apostate’s/Heretic’s Rings/Amulets will now only spend Faith to create as many Spell Points as needed to cast the spell you want to cast, taking into account the amount of Spell Points you already have. (Before, they would convert Faith to Spell Points to get you the full amount of the spell’s cost, even if you already had Spell Points).

- Extinguish and Summer Rain will now turn Bridges over Lava and Rope Bridges over Lava to Empty Space, as well.

- Mesmeric Mist will no longer interrupt auto-movement or auto-waiting if you’re already Confused.

- Updated manual.

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed error not noting the abilities of most non-variant Dragons when you query them.

- Fixed error causing the Shadow Bazaar event to bring merchants into play with no wares.

- Fixed error causing Dark Hunters to disarm traps at the wrong location.

- Fixed error scrambling queries in their respective spell lists of Magic Blast, Magic Bomb, Cleanse Potion, Mind Blade and True Path.

- Fixed error not accurately reflecting a monster’s damage range when you query it if the monster is suffering from Weakness.

- Fixed error not accurately reflecting a Hobgoblin’s damage range when you query it, if a Hobgoblin Sergeant exists.

- Fixed error not accurately reflecting a Pit Fiend’s damage range when you query it, if a Pit Fiend Overlord exists.

- Fixed bug when eating Mystery Meat where you would be told it increased your Intelligence but it would actually increase your Dexterity.

- Fixed a few outdated and overlooked issues around dropped items and integrating the new 1000 item per floor limit - truthfully, I’m not sure what effect this would have had on play, but it was definitely wrong, so it’s been fixed.

- Fixed bug never applying Spiderfolk Queen’s bonus Defense to her followers.

- Fixed 13 separate instances where Defense bonuses supplied to monsters by other monsters weren’t being taken into account when outputting the odds for you to hit in combat during a query of that monster.

- Fixed extremely rare possibility for an endless loop in generation of a Kalu Beast Lair.

- Fixed bug causing Flame Eidolons to lay fire at the wrong co-ordinates.

- Fixed bug causing standard Light spell to only last 120 turns rather than 360.

- Fixed bug causing Blue Glow spell to only last 120 turns rather than 180.

- Fixed bugs that allowed you to use the mouse wheel to scroll your spell lists down even if you shouldn’t have been able to, causing all spells in the list to appear, when queried, as Mage Helm and to act, when cast, as Mage Helm.

- Fixed error preventing Indulgence from actually granting the player Faith.

- Fixed errors with Hone Weapon and Lastaviark’s Blessing miracles that wouldn’t allow them to work on Exotic Weapons.

- Fixed error causing Alembics only to work for Alchemists.

- Fixed error causing Monied Monsters event not to work if you killed a monster in combat (as opposed to by spell or miracle, for instance).

- Fixed error making it impossible to gain Faith from Maleviak by killing a monster you attacked in its sleep.

- Fixed error preventing Holy Relic from working on Baloraasinian Shrines.

- Fixed extra bit of unnecessary text reading “usually contains” in query of a Giant Ant-Lion Lair title.

- Fixed bug charging you both Faith and Spell Points when you use the Reform miracle.

- Fixed bug charging you Faith twice for the successful casting of the Identify miracle.

- Fixed outdated info in listing of Dorallan miracles claiming Speak with Animals cost 40 Faith Points, when it now costs 45.

- Fixed outdated code that showed Dorallan miracle, Speak with Animals, as available to cast if your Faith Points were just 15 instead of 45.

- Fixed bug where the game was reporting your odds of escaping a Net as 0%, rather than the proper odds, when querying the Net you were trapped in.

- Fixed bug causing Soul Guide Lanterns to be found containing 100 souls instead of 0.

- Fixed small typo in query of Alux.

- Fixed holdover error where certain monsters that should cause Insanity were, half the time, while fighting other monsters, causing Confusion instead.

- Fixed error making it impossible for the monsters of Monster Group 15 to be placed in Monster Cages.

- Fixed error making it impossible for Dragons of Monster Groups 14 or 15 to appear whenever the game is supposed to summon a random Dragon.

- Fixed error making it impossible for Dinosaurs of Monster Groups 14 or 15 to appear whenever the game is supposed to summon a random Dinosaur.

- Removed old error prevention that hasn’t been necessary in some time and that was now preventing Iguanodons from appearing whenever the game is supposed to summon a random Dinosaur.

- Fixed error making it impossible for Lycanthropes of Monster Groups 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15 to appear whenever the game is supposed to summon a random Lycanthrope.

- Fixed pluralization error when a monster casts Falter at you, preventing you from casting Spells for “1 turns!”

- Fixed bug outputting graphic of your square instead of the Spell when you gain Health via Soul Transfer.

- Fixed errors allowing Rope Bridges of any type to collapse under your weight, even if you’re Flying.

- Fixed bug causing query of Desecrated Temple to be overwritten by the text from a query of Cult Temple or Abandoned Cult Temple.

- Fixed bug causing Disenchant Surroundings spell and Nullify Enchantments perk to not remove Disruptive Auras.

- Fixed text overwrite in initial text output of Bad Omens event.

- Fixed text overwrite in initial text output of Disillusionment event.

- Fixed bug causing Eye of the Elder Dragon to be destroyed on use instead of just temporarily deactivated.

- Fixed bug causing you to submerse in any Pool you enter even when you’re Flying.

- Fixed bug outputting “Insect Plague!” instead of “Summon Insects!” when you successfully cast Summon Insects on a monster.

- Fixed error that prevented the poison damage type icon from appearing next to the damage output when querying a Bug Man.

- Fixed bugs causing the Starmetal/Nebulite/Astral Forged enchantments to have no effect on 8 specific debuffs.

- Fixed bugs with Starmetal/Nebulite/Astral Forged enchantments that could drop the durations of debuffs to -1 turns, making them, effectively, eternal.

- Fixed bugs with Misery Demon, Amethyst Dragon and Dread Drake that could allow them to erase more than one of your spells in a single turn.

- Fixed typo in query of Prayer of Reformation.

- Fixed text overwrite in query of Control Spirit spell.

- Fixed errors with Necrofiends, Necromancers and Corpse Masters that could remove any special status from them (Hero/Spellcaster/Missile Variant/etc.) any time they create an undead.

- Fixed errors with Necrofiends, Necromancers and Corpse Masters that was messing up when the undead they created should or shouldn’t retain its missile variant from life (they should if the monster was Standard or Genius Intelligence, and not otherwise).

- Fixed bug omitting key text from queries of Giant Rat variants except Scavenging Giant Rats and Carcass Feeding Giant Rats.

- Fixed bug preventing the graphic for Weighted Dice from being displayed.

- Fixed bug causing Always Training perk to appear grayed out in its list, even when it has uses remaining.

- Fixed typos in text output of the initial gain or improvement of the Always Training Perk.

- Fixed typos in queries of the Always Training Perk.

- Fixed bug that could cause a text overwrite in query of Feighmorian Shrine if you had the Child of the Mad God perk to at least level 2.

- Fixed error causing Lastaviark’s Blessing to put on a prefix enchantment instead of the suffix enchantment it’s meant to.

- Fixed bug causing Mad Dancing Satyr to only confuse enemy monsters for 1 to 3 turns, instead of 2 to 4 turns as it’s supposed to.

- Fixed error in query of Haunted Armour labeling it an “Insectoid” instead of “Undead (Spirit)” as it should be.

- Fixed bug making unidentified Major Curative Potions display the proper graphic for the potion instead of the “unknown” version, if your Alchemy Skill was Basic.

- Fixed typos sometimes incorrectly referring to a Xiphos as a “Xyphos”.

- Fixed typo in entry text to Flamewrought Forge.

- Fixed error that I THINK was preventing spellcasting monsters generated in Legendary Lands from actually having any Spell Points.

- Fixed 5 separate cases where the text output could be gibberish if you were supposed to lose points from one of your Primary Attributes but were protected by Sense of Purpose.

- Fixed oversight with Locate Exits spell (and Sextant of Wayfinding) that wouldn’t allow it to detect Mine Entrances.

- Fixed bug omitting Distance Strike odds for queried monster if you had an Air Shield effect in play (instead of printing “Distance Strike: 0%”).
